Shipping total does not update with Quantity change in cart

I am using VM version 2 with the standard shipping mdoule.

When I add a product to the cart the shipment amount shows when logged in.

But when the Quantity is changed to more than one the shipment amount does not increase.

I have tried this with the weight settings at null as well as with weight bands set.

The standard shipping method expresses shipping costs as a fixed amount, not as costs per product!
