Hello,

There are some online services for migration if you haven't find any suitable solution on the forum to migrate from vm1 to vm2.
You could use csv improved for example to export your products from vm1 and import them to vm2.

Some more information:

And http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=102783.0  and  http://dev.virtuemart.net/projects/virtuemart/wiki/Upgrading_VM1_to_VM2_with_provided_packages

Although bytelord suggests using CSVimproved for migration it is much more complicated to migrate that way, and takes more steps, but it can be done.

You cannot use the Joomla! Extensions installer to update with the patch.   See http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=62576.0

can i not just copy folders over from the old site through ftp, i tried doing it that way and got stuck after using joomla upgrade seems like nothing is on the site at all now.

Hallo puggle, thats not possible, you have to use jupgrade first and tahn in new joomla version use the migration function, like it is explained in every tutorial.
Because the tables in the database are totally different from he old version, your way will not work! So if you have not so much articles it will be no problem,
i think.
