Confusing Credit Card Message

Checkout settings set to ON: 1)Enable Automatic Selected Shipment 2) Enable Automatic Selected Payment 3)Must agree to Terms... 4) Show Terms of Service....

When I add a product to the shopping cart, I am directed to the cart and get notified that my credit card information is Invalid or missing - I have not had the opportunity at this point to enter my credit card information.  These messages should not be shown at this stage of shopping. 

But, when I am NOT logged in, it works appropriately.
