No pdf attachment to invoice email

hi. using virtuemart 2.0.6. I do not have any pdf attachments on the emails that go out to clients when they place an order. I did select the option in the configuration.
I notice on the server there is a folder called vmfilesinvoices, besides the one i created, vmfiles/invoices?? a bug maybe? Neither of these two folders have any pdf's in them either.

any help/assistance possibly?
