Quote's instead of a purchase

I have done a search in the forum but do not see anything related to quotes.

What I need is for people to be able to add items to the basket and when they checkout, it sends a request for quote. It would be basically how it works at the moment but there isn't any purchases at this moment in time. This way they could customize what they wanted and it could be assessed before a price is supplied manually. To simplify things, I would then turn off the delivery option as well.

Any thought would be greatly appreciated.

I´ve been looking for the same thing. Haven´t had any luck with VM2. http://www.joomlavm.com/index.php?/Components/VMQuote1.0/flypage.tpl.html is something I´m looking at.

use the standard payment method, and change the name to "Send for Quote"
