I have been trying for weeks since Virtuemart 1.1 came out to get the proxy working it simply doesn't.  Here is the relevant information:

I installed Virtuemart 1.1 Stable onto a Godaddy Shared Hosting Server I am running Joomla 1.0.15 Stable, and Virtuemart 1.1 Stable.

I entered in the required proxy server and port number on the Virtuemart configuration page and activated the UPS shipping module.

The only thing I get during checkout on the select a shipping method page is Error: connect() timed out!
Error: Internal Error processing the Request to UPS.com

The website url is http://www.midnitecandles.com you can add something to the cart and go through the checkout process to replicate the problem.

I have given up and put a temp fix into this I simply copied the working ups.php file from my previous virtuemart 1.0 installation and it works for now this proxy thing really needs to be worked out so that we can use our shops on GoDaddy I realize it's easy to just simply say switch hosts but when you have already paid for a ssl certificate that is hosted by GoDaddy and a monthly plan that is affordable it's just not that easy.

After some more testing it appears this problem is only related to the Virtuemart 1.1 version for Joomla 1.0.  The virtuemart 1.1 version that is installed on a different store of mine works on Joomla 1.5.

Scratch that it is still a problem I am not sure why I can't find anything in the forums related to this or why anyone from the developers team hasn't responded.  If these issues aren't soon worked out I am going to have to find a new solution for my shopping cart.  These issues have been around since Virtuemart 1.0 and 1.1 was supposed to fix this.  What's the deal here?  Is there anyword on a solution or when a solution will be devised for this problem.

I've tried to place this on the bug tracker but I can't validate my email address because I keep getting a server error on the dev.virtuemart site.

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!

crazyprices

Well it's been four days since I opened this thread and I know I am not the only one having issues with this problem can someone please let us know if this is a bug?

I suspect this is a GoDaddy thing. I don't use their hosting so can't help, and I don't think any devs would go near them either. They may be cheap.....

Please mention your VirtueMart, Joomla and PHP versions when asking a question in this forum

Yes they are cheap and when you have your site all setup it's not as easy as a click of a button to move it the proxy setting in virtuemart was supposed to fix this problem and it doesn't work.
