I've been wondering why half the people love VM and half hate it.  Well, I may have figured it out.  VM was developed in Europe where a VAT is used.  In the US, we don't have a VAT, we use a sales tax.  Minor difference?  Think again!

Other than a little bug where VM could occasionally subtract the VAT as a discount, VM mostly works right for pricing - with a VAT.  But not with sales tax, the way we do them in the US.

It isn't a minor fix for the lighthearted, either.  It appears I will have to go through the core code and make changes in several files, then test.

If others are having trouble the way the pricing works with sales tax and discounts, let me know.

I've looked at half a dozen other ecommerce solutions that can incorporate with Joomla, and none come close to this one.  I've written my own, which works flawlessly, but it isn't nearly as powerful and flexible as VM, so I'm going to hack VM up to work for my clients.
