Billing / Shipping Cart fields overlapping outside of template

Joomla 3.5.1 and Vmart 3.0.16

When reviewing and testing checkout process, it seems the check out cart and account details input fields are not wrapping within the template border. The fields are overlapping to right of screen on mobile devices forcing the visitor to scroll left and right.

This is using the responsive joomla template protostar. It seems to really get buggy on iphones. Any help or direction on how to adjust this for better fit?

the std. cart template isn't fully responsive at small screen sizes

It is solved by css and hiding columns etc
simplest is just buy a good template
