Product Thumbnail problem

this is stupid new VM behaviour, till VM 3.0.8 everything was ok, if someone want to rearange order of images by product, he can not do this first time. Has to save product, visit frontpage, comae back...

I don't understand myself,why this ?
I need now to develop a tool for my client to update it by plugin because i don't want hack core.
Some explain are welcome from the team, its a real regress !

@The Godfather : for now, it's only for my customer, but if this problem persist, perhaps i add this to my shop in some week.

I am having the same problem, except I'm getting an error message which may help troubleshoot it.

Warning: Img2Thumb NewImgCreate with imagecreatefromstring failed /home/website/public_html/images/stories/virtuemart/product/m_five6.jpg
This warning appears any time I click on a product to edit it.

Virtuemart 3.0.16 on Joomla 3.5.1 Running on Apache 2.4.18 and PHP 5.6.20 with GD enabled.

The thumbnail is not created in the resized folder and no amount of saving, clicking on the product or any other hoopla will solve it. Changed permissions on the resized folder to 777 from 755 but that did not work either.
