How to separate child products to parent

Hi,

I wanna ask if possible to separate the child products to parent product?

I uploaded the the products using csv  with a few parents to easily control in custom field. The problem on this is, if I want to add variation to child product, the child product will become parent and result confusion to inventory.

Can it be possible to separate the child product??

I am using joomla 3.4.3 and VM  3.0.9.4
