Back end changes taking ages to show on front end

Hi,
I am using VM 3.0.8 on Joomla 3.4.1
I have a VM category menu on the front end. Every time I make a new category or alteration to an existing one it takes ages to show up in the menu. Eventually it does, so I know it is working, but does anyone know how to speed this up?

Turn off all chaching, including that for the VirtueMart Category module.

How do you turn off the caching in VM itself? I've done it in Joomla and the module.

Just Joomla & the modules should be enough, but there is also browser caching to consider, so CTRL+F5 when necessary.
