Hello, I am using VM 2.6.0 for an ecommerce to be launched soon.

I was trying to tweak it so that if I select one of a set of payment methods (typically card+paypal) you get an additional 5$ discount.

I have tried looking for some documentation on methods that can be called or data structures that I can work on inside the php source, but I have found very little or no hints at all.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

have you tried adding negative numbers in the payment methods Discounts and Fees? (I haven't)
if not hack it into the payment method - it is responsible for the final figure

and if your really using 2.6.0 not only have you missed out on dozens of bug fixes but->
