specifying category menu's

Hello guys,

The webshop i'm creating has a menu on top specifying all available category's for product types.
My cusomer now wants a secondairy menu on the left where visitors can specify the material type, platsic, metal etc.

When i create a new category for each material type, the category gets added to the top menu while i only want it on the left.
Is it possible to do it the way i want it to?

You better use the categories for a simple categorization and use custom fields for additional features

You need a filtering extension for the filtering
