Delete product image

Hi,

Why when i remove images via "Backend -> virtuemart -> shop -> Media" the related files in "/images/stories/virtuemart/product" are not deleted?

Do i manually remove files via FTP?

Perhaps it's a logical operation, but is giving me strong problem.
