Not able to send email to customer when pending

vm version: 2.0.22c hardened

Hello,

What i would like to do:

Get either the order confirmation mail or the order status changed email to be sent out when confirm order is pressed.

What i've tried:
1. Default Order Status to create an invoice, set to pending
2. Default Order Status to send email to shopper, set to pending
3. Configure payment method  like this: Order Status for Pending transactions: confirmed
4. buy virtuemart e-mail manager pro

but nothing has worked!

I would really appreciate if someone could help me with this.
