can i make child product have different related products wihout check overwrite

Hello,
I have created a parent product and then i would like to open new products as child products. Everything seems to be fine except when i want to link different products as related to each new (child) product. Can i do that without overwrite values box? Because when i overwrite i loose description of custom fields with the prices.
