We have posted this topic on Joomla forum but someone mentioned it's VM issue.
I hope you can help guys.
We are using Joomla! 2.5.4 and VM 2.0.6
We have had some serious load and cpu usage issues over last 2 months.
Since then we had to go for dedicated server - we hoped this would solve the issue. - but it did not.
Then website starts to slow down when more products are added to the cart. Sometimes it would freeze for like 30-45s lets say when about 20 products are in the cart.
Load on the server can increase from
Load Averages: 0.25 0.16 0.09
Load Averages: 2.71 1.74 2.06
Thats when single user is on the website which is worrying I must say.
Has anyone experienced something similar?

Also Ive spent over 5 weeks looking for solution to this now and Im not sure what to do.
We have tried switching off modules extensions and plugins ( heard this might be a reason for high load) + we have also bought extra amount of RAM we adjusted cache settings-still no luck.
Load is created on .php file and it looks like there are loops in script.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Perhaps you should update to Joomla 2.5.8 and VM 2.0.16 (backup first!)
I just added 30 different products to my cart using up to date versions of Joomla and VM and there isn't any slowdown at all. The complete cart view including the display of 'featured products' usually loads in between 4 and 5 seconds, no matter if there is just one product in the cart or 30. And my shop is running on a cheap 3.5 Euro per month shared server.
I would suggest that you use the Firefox browser plugin "Firebug". If you click on the 'Net' tab in Firebug, it should show you which file is taking so long to load.

I would suggest the same I did in my previous post in this forum thread. Try the Firefox browser plugin "Firebug". If you click on the 'Net' tab in Firebug, it should show you which files are taking too long to load and in the 'Console' tab it will probably show you an error. Maybe one of your other extensions is causing a javascript conflict somewhere.

Also, you can enable 'Debug System' in Joomla configuration and 'VM-Debug' in VirtueMart configuration to test your installation. If you don't have a copy on your own PC, you might set your website to maintenance mode temporarily, while you are testing. And last but not least, you could have a look at your server log.

Concerning your customizations - you should use override files for your customizations. That way you can always update without loosing your customizations.
