Constant Log-Out When Making Changes in Back-End

Hello,
I have been searching this problem for about three hours now and I am quite frustrated...

I am using Virtuemart 2.0.18a and Joomla 2.5.9.

Currently whenever I make an edit to Virtuemart via the backend of Joomla I am logged out of the site. The changes do not save. If I log in again, the site essentially logs me in twice... making my account show up doubly as logged in.

This issue is quite urgent as I need to get the company store up and running by the end of the week.

Any help is greatly appreciated,
