Change domain - same host

Hello, i need to change the domain in my Virtuemart website. The thing is that both domains -the old and the new one- share the same host, so i ca't use Akeeba for this.

I've changed the paths in joomla's configuration.php but it's not working: it displays a broken layout and nothing at the new domain.

Also tried redirect rule in htaccess with no luck.

Any ideas? Help please!

Do you mean they are separate accounts on the same host, each with their own space, or both domains point to the same server space?
