Hi guys, I'm VERY new to this whole business so please go easy on me and any advice will need to be idiot proof.. :)

So I'm using XAMPP and Joomla 2.5 and I'm testing out ways of building sites with it, so far I haven't done anything except work out how to get into the Joomla admin areas and upload extensions. Now this is what I've done with VirtueMart, I downloaded the newest and oldest versions, perhaps stupidly, tried uploading all of them, newest last to overwrite anything, in the hopes that I can populate my lists with some shipping and payment methods.

I used to have a fully functional store once but my nephew set it up for me and doesn't have the time to help me again, so I need to learn.

I saw in another post you need my PHP version, but I've no idea, I'm in windows 7, installed newest Joomla, XAMPP etc, I doubt I'm much help to you.

But any help will be greatly appreciated, my apologies in advance for any missing info.

Hi roflbear,

Newest and Oldest versions of what? VM1 and VM2 are not compatible.

You should start of by going through the manual on how to install and setup a basic shop.

http://dev.virtuemart.net/projects/virtuemart/wiki/VM2_Shop_Menu this page in particular tells you how to setup shipping and payment methods.

I followed everything, there's still no default list like there used to be. I found how to add them in your second link but I'm doing Joomla for ease, I don't want to have to add so much info

Hi roflbear,

There's really no other way I know of.
