how to manual upgrade 2.0.6 to 2.0.8e (procedure please??)

hello.
the Auto updating feature failed and so did the Joomla Extensions updating.  (and I have reported etc)
can someone provide a basic procedure for a manual FTP upgrading please.
(it may be as older versions BUT there is now a 'install' directory in the files "com_virtuemart.2.0.8e" )

also can not find documentation about how to FTP files over existing?

I have the same problem except I'm trying to update from 2.0.8c to 2.0.8e
also when I tried to update from extensions handler the link to virtuemart under components in the back end dissappeared.
