PayPal Website Payments Pro Refund Status Update

I think this has been asked a while back, but when we are using paypal payments pro with virtuemart and when we issue either a partial refund or full refund through paypal directly, it is changing that particular order's status to Failed.  Ideally, I would like a partial refund to change the status to Partial Refund and full refund to Refunded.  I think I need to update notify.php, but I am not a developer, so I have no idea how to modify it to make it worked as described above.  Has anyone figured out how to do this and if so, can you kindly tell me how to modify the files to work like I want?
