Counter for properties in an attribute

 I am trying to build a salad bar product for my website. Basically the customer needs to be able to build their own salad. There will be a basic price under which there will be 20 ingredients to choose from. The customer must be able to choose only max 6 ingredients for free. If they choose more then they should get an error message. if they want more than the six the same list will be present again with an individual up charge for each ingredient.

Whats the best way to do this?

It's a PC configurator but you can optimize as you want.
I am not sure about 6 first ingredients but you can ask the developer of the extension.
