Parent product is overwriting child product settings

Hello all, I hope I am in the correct place to ask this question.

I just updated to VM 2.0.6 and face the following problem:

I have a parent product with a set up category and images.
I have multiple child products of this one, some of them with a different category and image(s). Everything fine so far, the changed (child) values are recognized and displayed.
But: As soon as I change something in the parent product (like price) it clears the child's category settings and the child media (images). I don't know if other fields are also overwritten, title and description and custom fields seem to stay the correct child's one.
I cannot say for sure if this has been like this in previous versions, so I wonder if it is a bug at all or just something I'm doing wrong.
