Hi

I recently lost complete access to my Backend Area, I am lost in a login loop with no errors, and have gone through the Joomla Support Forum help but still nothing has worked.

My last change was installing VM and was adding several products from the backend when suddenly I got logged out and have not been able to login again to the Admin area. I had installed VM several days before this happened and did not had any problems, so I cant say for sure that VM caused the problem, but disabling VM is my last resort before a very tedious proccess of manually installing Joomla and adding little by little each module/plugin etc in order to discard the problem. I was still building the  shop so I only disabled the private menu item I had for VM, so there is no access to the store from my website, and I know I wont "break" my site but I rather be sure by asking here.

SO, before doing that, I would like to Complete disable VM from within PHPMyAdmin but I am not sure what is the best way to do it:
1. Should I just Disable the VM rows inside the "_extensions" table ??  found these:
mod_virtuemart_category
mod_virtuemart_cart
mod_virtuemart_manufacturer
mod_virtuemart_search
mod_virtuemart_product
mod_virtuemart_currencies
mod_vmmenu

deleting tables will kill your site

try in #__extensions-> name->virtuemart - set enabled->0

but never seen a VM install that prevented a admin login

I agree, I dont think this is a VM problem.

More than likely a plugin in your 'system' or 'authentication' plugins is stopping it.  Have you tried looking through those and disabling what is not necessary to see if it works?  Make sure joomla authentication plugin stays enabled.  Are you able to log into the front end with the same/different users?

thanks for the warning!!!   :o ::)  I have not done any changes yet.

This is the post I am getting help from at Joomla Forums: http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=624&t=854453

I had updated joomla several days before and other components but everything kept working fine.
I have tried reseting admin password and also created a new superuser but none of them work on backend, they do work on frontend.
I´ve deleted browser cache, dns cache, cookies.
Tried different browsers and devices/PCs.
Used the Forum Post Assistant, and the Joomla Anti Malware Scan Script.
I did malware check with http://sitecheck.sucuri.net, came out clean. and many other tips from joomla forums, but nothing has worked.
My PC also seems clean of virus and malware.

My final resource is the backup I did about 3 weeks ago, before updating Joomla and installing VM, but I will loose all the progress I had with my VM shop and a couple of articles. but I would like to know what caused the problem in the first place.

Well the only real way to know is to debug the code which is probably too much to ask.

I see you got plenty of good advice.  Once last thing I would try is after logging in and coming back to the login page, try to directly access an admin page, like one of these;

administrator/index.php?option=com_users
administrator/index.php?option=com_virtuemart

Maybe you are logged in since you receive no errors on the login page.

Other than that, I guess iit is rebuild the site, unfortunately.

So instead of "playing"  with the DB I installed an old month backup with akeeba to a new DB and folder, I updated everything, installed VM and everything works again, had to add some content that I had worked on this past month and also had to add the products I had already added to VM, but it was less work that manually checking each extention with the DB.

Not sure what caused the problem yet but in the mean time my site is back to work from the backend again  :D

I moved the non-working site files to a restricted subfolder in case I find time and patience to figure out if it was an specific extention that caused the problem, and the now working site was moved to root

I would have said, delete the session table. But now I am too late, sry.

But the product, which you edited. Which kind of product was that? Maybe a parent with a lot of children?
Should I fix your bug, please support the VirtueMart project and become a member

Yes Milbo, it was a Parent Product with several Child products on my other post, I ended up deleting that Child product and making a new independant product  :)
