I have been having some issues with virtuemart: not all of my products are showing, the pictures are causing error reports, most recently my site says "Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in /var/www/vhosts/courtneymorgan.com/httpdocs/administrator/components/com_virtuemart/models/user.php on line 142" at the top of the storefront.

I tried to upgrade to the most recent version hoping this would help, but now I recieve the error: "Fatal error: Cannot pass parameter 2 by reference in /var/www/vhosts/courtneymorgan.com/httpdocs/administrator/components/com_virtuemart/liveupdate/classes/download.php on line 40"
when I try to upgrade to the current verion of virtuemart.

Any help is appreciated

Thank you!

Hi,

Please try the following:

Download the tar.gz files from http://dev.virtuemart.net/projects/virtuemart/files and do a manual update from Joomla Backend ... Extensions -> Extensions Manager.
First upgrade the core VM and after AIO extensions.

hope helps you out!

When uploading the AIO extension, I received this error:

Warning: require(/var/www/vhosts/courtneymorgan.com/httpdocs/plugins/search/virtuemart/virtuemart.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/vhosts/courtneymorgan.com/httpdocs/tmp/install_50351d22ca3cb/script.vmallinone.php on line 323

Any suggestions?!

Thank you for the help!

Joomla 1.7.5 is way past end of life and has known security issues. Upgrade to J2.5.6 is highly recommended.  VM2.0.10 has not been tested on J1.7 for obvious reasons.

Also PHP 5.2.16 is too old. For Joomla 1.7/2.5 absolute minimum required is 5.2.4 - http://www.joomla.org/technical-requirements.html

Thanks for the information. I've inherited this site with the task of trying to update it. How would I go about upgrading to the most current versions?

Thank you!!!

jenkinhill

Upgrade of Joomla is easy as it has a built-in updater in the Extensions manager. Your host needs to update the php version - or you need to find a better hosting service. I suspect that limitations in php configuration prevente a proper install of the aio component. I use the settings listed here and have had no issues with any installations: http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=102045.msg339125#msg339125

When I look under extensions manager, it says "there are no updates available." Is there somewhere else I should be looking for the joomla updates?

As for the php, we have already been in the market to switch to a new host.

Thank you!

I found the joomla update, but recieved another error message:

-1 - An error has occurred.
Copy failed

Any ideas?
