Title: Product Categories Menu- Is it better in VM2
Post by: Shimon Hirschhorn on December 07, 2011, 11:46:56 AM
Hello,

I am currently using Joomla 1.5.25 and VM 1.1.9.  The biggest problem that I have is the speed of the Product Categories Menu.  I have many categories.  Since the menu queries the DB on every refresh this is very slow.

It would be much faster if it cached the Product Categories structure and used this.  It would only have to refresh the cache when the product categories table is modified ( not something that happens all that often) .

Is VM 2 any faster on Product Categories Menu refresh?

Thanks

Thank you Banquet Tables and Milbo,

I started reading that thread before I posted this.  It was long and started to talk about testing methods and personalities.

I am a simple person, trying to figure out how to improve my site.

I an hopeful for VM2.  I tend to be a late adopter, so I will wait on porting for a bit, however it is good to know.

Thanks
