Hello,
Website is using Joomla 3.10.6 and Virtuemart 3.8.8
Store is in catalog mode.
I have stubborn client who refuses to optimize images before uploading on website (old man!). Initially, in Virtuemart -> Configuration -> Templates -> Media Files Settings, there was no value set for Fullimage width & Fullimage height. So, I added Fullimage width & height and saved configuration as below:

Then I tried uploading an image which is bigger than 1500px. But it is uploading image with no effect. No dimension & size change after upload.
In Joomla Content -> Media -> Options -> Media tab -> Maximum Size (in MB) is set to 2MB. However I was able to upload image file of 8MB & 3744x3744px in dimensions.
Website also uses this plugin for multiple image uploads: https://extensions.joomla.org/extension/vm-product-multiple-image-upload/
But I tested with default Virtuemart image upload option & still no effect.
Is there any way to prevent such big file uploads?
Please help.
Yes there is an extension that help scaling images before upload in VM:

I use it myself and you can set a lot of options for the uploaded images, full size, thumbnails etc.

VM doesn't use any part of the Joomla media system

This is only the display size of the image in VM - has nothing to do with uploading/resizing etc

Ow! I thought VM uses joomla media settings. Thanks for letting me know.
Regarding dimension settings, when you mouse hover 'Fullimage width', it says :
That makes you think that VM will optimize the image. So, if it is not uploading/resizing, then can you please help me understand how it helps to reduce the load size?
It will resize ( or should resize) a copy of the uploaded image ... look in the resize folder for image_1500x0.jpg etc
this will be displayed in the details
