Morning all,
Currently adding product variants for different sizes and colour but what I'm actually looking to do is the following...
We already have separate products for each size/colour but on each of these product listings I want to be able to have the variants listed, and when chosen a variant from the drop down I want that to connect to that product listing. So, for example..
Say we have a product listing set up for a Brown Leather Chair with Arms and this chair has different coloured options which are already set up as other separate product listings. On the Brown Leather Chair with Arms listing we want there to be a drop down created (like the normal custom fields option) but we want each option to be the different listings which are already set up for the different colours for this chair. So if in the drop down there is Blue Leather Chair with Arms, when this option is selected it loads that product listing which is already on the site. We were thinking this would just work by using a URL for each option but not quite sure if we are able to do that?
Does anyone have any options or ideas in mind which they think we could benefit from, or maybe any plugins or extensions which would work with Joomla, Virtuemart and Yootheme Pro.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Ok but how do I link the drop downs to products I've already got listed?
probably make them children which I think u can only do by editing directly the parent id in the DB table ...
Try the Stockable Custom Fields (https://breakdesigns.net/extensions/joomla/stockable-custom-fields), there is a functionality to connect custom fields with existing products

First change the product parent id in the list, then use the multi-variant customfield to setup your options
