My site is multi language.
VM 3.8.8
J 3.10.2
The 'ask question about product' modal works only in default language.
When switching to second language the form opens in a new window.
Any idea how to solve this?

I have custom layouts and CSS overrides.
But those do not (to my knowledge) affect this modal function.
You do not give much clues here, do you use custom joomla templates ?
If You do then You have to check:
[url]templates/your template/html/com_virtuemart/askquestion
Thoose files are responsible for the form.

I checked.
This file hasn't been touched. It remains original at the path you mentioned. No override for this one.
I also disabled temporarily all VM overrides to see if it makes a difference. No, it does not.
Then it is up to you and look into the files, my override files use langauge keys for the form. What does your form use? What is not translated ? What is translated ?
Do the language keys exist etc.
This is invisible to us, but you can look this up.

thanks for your help.
My issue is that on default language the modal opens nicely.
But after switching the language it does not. It opens a new window, showing the form. All translated.
I'm not the super tech guy. I have problems to understand how this multi lang actually works.
I find the code to show the button in productdetails->default.php. (but no reference to 'open as modal' or such)
I'll try with beez template next, perhaps I just have another template issue, and get back with results.
