I want to get all the main category boxes showing across all the subcategories but can only get them to show on the shop "home" page and the main category.
In the menus I have
"Virtuemart category view settings" Show categories YES
"Virtuemart subordinated category settings" Show categories YES
How do I make the main level 1 categories show on every page please?

OK so you are suggesting that this isn't possible in VM without an extension which surprises me as it seems like something that many would want?

for list of category we use standard core module VirtueMart Category with layout wall.
