I am using Joomla 3.9.23, VM 3.8.6 and PHP 7.3.19.
When a new user registers an account the details are correctly entered into the database etc but the user sees the message"COM_VIRTUEMART_REG_COMPLETE_ACTIVATE_ADMIN" and no email verification message is sent to either the user or to admin. This is a recent occurrence seemingly related to Joomla or VM upgrades -the sytem worked well previously.
I have searched the forums and found a couple of related posts but nothing helps beyond the suggestion to check the language files. The file en_GB.com_virtuemart.ini contains the following entries:

That is really as far as I have got. Please can anyone help?

Are you checking the admin language file and are your language files upp to date ? Are You using another language ?

I am using the English language file which I assumed was up to date because VM is up to date. I am checking the file components/com_virtuemart/language/en-GB/en-GB.com_virtuemart.ini. This file is dated 22/11/2020.
Sorry, I forgot to add that my original post contained an error. The user does receive the registration email (plus ann error message) but the admin authorisation email is not received. It seems the user is able to logi in to the new account by clicking on the link in the email although the account is still not authorised by admin.

I think I remember something about the browsers language is used instead of the english language. Could that be it ? What language does You customer use ?
Maybe tick use english as fallback language could help ?

Thanks for the suggestion, but it does not seem to change anything.
One additional symptom of the problem is that when the user clicks on the verification link they receive an error message stating that the verification code was not recognised.
One further factor is that even though new users receive a verification email that incorporates a verification code that is not accepted, the user still gets immediate access to the account (without even clicking on the email verification link).
I really don't see what is going on here.

normal ... verification isn't really supported in VM
why do u want to drive away your customers by having them jump thru multiple hoops b4 giving u their money?
If u really want to control who can buy from your shop I would use the Joomla registration and have the shop or at least the add to carts behind a login
Thanks again for your reply. That is the arrangement I use - Joomla registration with the shop (actually part of it) behind a registered user login. It has worked for several years and thru various upgrades of Joomla and VM. Nothing has been changed as far as setup is concered to produce the current problem.
However, the error message I now get comes from VM as quoted in previous posts. Yes, I am confused and that's why i am seeking expert help.

An issue with Joomla registration has been described by a couple of other users.
I never use required registration (so have never tested it) but for me it has always been the case that the user is automatically registered as a shopper in VM despite the Joomla user settings so can continue to complete the sale. The last thing I want is for someone to have to wait for an email before being allowed to hand over their cash.
However, after completing the payment they can't log in again to the cart to make a new purchase if not enabled in Joomla.
And check the VM Framework Loader during Plugin Updates setting (GJC beat me to that!)
No, I have not disabled the redirect. It is set as shown in GJC's image above.

OK, I tried with the Redirect Joomla to Virtuemart Registration disabled. The result is that there are no longer any error messages and the account is correctly created. However, when the email verification link in the user's message is clicked, the status of the account is not changed. Admin emails are now sent correctly, but the authorisation link in the email does not alter the status of the account - ie login attepmts are blocked because the account has not been activated.
Is there any point in re-installing an earlier version of VM to get a temporary solution to this?
You would be better off fully documenting step by step and screen shooting what happens so the team can have a starting point to debug this if there is a bug.
I can tell you that validation is rarely if ever used by any of the dev or testing team.
You can try re-installing a lower VM but I have no experience of this... so I would do it on a clone site first

OK, here is a summary of the problem I am experiencing. The problem seems to have arisen from recent updates of either (or both) VM and Joomla as it was previously working well.
When new users attemps to create an account on the site they see the following message:
COM_VIRTUEMART_REG_COMPLETE_ACTIVATE_ADMIN (as seen in attached image 03.jpg.
The account is created but is immediately accessible to the user - the account is created "Enabled" but not "Activated"
An email incorporating a verification link is received by the user but when the link is clicked the following error message is displayed : "403 - Verification code not found. Check if your account is already activated and try to log in." Presumably this is because the new account is already enabled.
No email is received by either of the two superadmins, one of whom who would normally authorise the new account.

It would seem to be a bug and will need to be addressed by the dev team when they have time.
But as I have mentioned the use of verified logins are as rare as hen's teeth in my experience .. I have never been asked to use it on an ecommerce site.
If the site is private normally users simply apply to join or are invited and mods approve them .. I really don't see what verifying adds to this?
So I assume working on this problem will not be a top priority for the dev team atm.
Thanks for the feedback. I understand you comments re verification but I am the webmaster rather than the site owner. The site/business owner regards the verification process as essential and I cannot really argue with the requirement.
Incidentally, I have just tried this on a completely different site using a different template etc, but with the same versions of VM and Joomla, and the same error occurs in the same circumstances.
what if u go back to VM3.8.4 till its fixed?
Not sure - can I just reload the older version without database problems or losing data?
I would try on a clone first ... all files are always replaced during updating but of course any DB changes are not reverted...
It is whether there are any DB changes and if so do they break the site is the question

OK, I re-installed VM3.8.4 on a clone and the site seems to be working - ie nothing seems to be broken. However, the registration error ("COM_VIRTUEMART_REG_COMPLETE_ACTIVATE_ADMIN") is still displayed to the new user. The account is now correctly created in that it is neither enabled nor activated - ie the user has no access. The user email is sent correctly and, when clicked, the account returns a message that the new account email has been verified and awaits admin approval. The admin email is correctly received and when the link is clicked the account is correctly enabled and activated.
In other words, everything works properly apart from the fact that the error message ("COM_VIRTUEMART_REG_COMPLETE_ACTIVATE_ADMIN") is still seen by the new user.
Any thoughts appreciated.

Sorry to labour this but something is still wrong. When I try to create the override, searching for value "Registration Completed!</div> <br />Your account has been created and is awaiting approval by an administrator." or the constant "COM_VIRTUEMART_REG_COMPLETE_ACTIVATE_ADMIN" produces "No matching texts found". Any other constant IS found. Am I going mad? - please don't answer that bit!
just make an over ride anyway for COM_VIRTUEMART_REG_COMPLETE_ACTIVATE_ADMIN whether the search finds it or not
