VM 3.6.2/ 40k products with multiple custom fields used.

Category pages are slower than we'd like (6+ seconds), and we are trying to optimize them.
Perhaps we can do without the custom fields for category product results.
Is there a way to remove custom field SQL queries for category results? If so, which are the query files we can experiment with?

Have you checked the config? You have an option to not render customfields in category view

vm config-> config->shop front-> Show product customfields in browse views

Thanks, does this also remove the processing (db queries) for the custom fields for the category pages?

YES, the checkbox just makes them "available" , in other words the queries.
