I am using PayPal on various joomla 3.5 sites running VM 3.2.
The site processes payments properly but on occasion, less than 1 in 20, I get a confirmed order that is payed for in PayPal that turns into a cancelled order. This means that the customer receives a PayPal email and is charged but our system does not pick up an order to send to the customer - not good. This can cause overselling also, as the cancelled order goes back into stock.
I have a method of picking up these orders by comparing the PayPal download to what is in our database of orders but this is not a live process.
I have noticed that if I make a confirmed order and then close the browser before arriving at the thank you page that the order seems to become cancelled. Is this possibly what customers are doing? Does a customer need to get to the thank you page to confirm?
Any help would be great.
