I'm running:
- Joomla! 2.5.20
- Virtuemart 2.0.26d
- PHP 5.3.29
- Flowermart VM Template from CMSMart.com

At this moment, upgrading/updating is out of the question as we're working on doing that on another server, but still need this site to work correctly.
The problem I'm facing is that the module is picking up the wrong product URL. It picks up the URL of the product beneath it. The first product in the module links directly to the homepage, the second links to the product page of the first, the third links to the second and so forth.
How do I resolve this issue please? Is there anyway to fix this issue or is it something that can't be fixed unless there is an update?

check and rewrite your code.
This can be in the template/yourtemplate/html/mod_virtuemart_product or module mod_virtuemart_product/tmpl.

or change the over ride name to check the native one if an over ride exists
