How do I remove the manufacturer filter from the category or product page?

If you need to ask that then you should spend a little time getting to understand the templating system.

Template files are in for example, components/com_virtuemart/views/productdetails/tmpl/ or components/com_virtuemart/views/category/tmpl/

There is also a global configuration option for the display of manufacturers.

Thanks Jenkinhill for the links ...I figured I needed to dive into things a bit but did not know where to start.

Thanks also Spyros, I appreciate knowing about this setting so I can keep working on my site while I am trying to learn more about templates.
