Title: Change Checkout Order

I have looked other places for this topic but was unsuccessful.

I have a client who would like their customers to be able to check shipping costs BEFORE they enter Bill to/Ship To info (registration). Would it be possible to change the order of the checkout steps to just enter the zip code (US) in order for the shipping module to be able to calculate shipping BEFORE the registration step?

Even a popup with estimated shipping based on weight in the view cart screen would work for me.

This can't be that difficult. Someone asked this in 2005 and still no solution.  This is a very basic part of MOST shopping sites these days. Does anyone have any news on this NEEDED option for virtuemart?
