I have been looking high and low for a module that will do what I want, and so far no luck.
Here are the main features I'm after:
- a tiled responsive layout of VM product thumbnails
- a lightbox effect when a thumbnail is clicked
- the VM product description in the lightbox
- the product price in the lightbox
- a "buy" button in the lightbox
There are lots of products sliders out there, but that is not really what I'm after. I really like the tiled layout of EventGallery for Joomla:

EventGallery integrates with VM, sort of... From what I gather it is designed to sell images using the VM cart and payment system, but not its inventory system. In other words, the images you upload into EG don't tie in directly to the VM inventory system in any way that I can see.
So in short what I'm after is something that looks similar to EG but with VM product details and price, and a "Buy" button to add the product to the cart.
Does such thing exist?
If not, any ideas on how to achieve it?
