Virtumart countreis states are blank, and there are lot of entries if we do it manually, can we do it auto and fill all states of countries automatically either plugin or someother way.
I would also like to know if there is a quicker way to do this, most of the countries have lots of states/provinces and to add them manually will take forever.
There are already 699 states entered
If you have some more then as this software is completely free the nice thing to do would be to fill in any that you know - export your table and make it available to the community..
Then i must be working outside of those 699 as i haven't come across one country with states loaded...yet but will carry on ;)

look in your jos_virtuemart_states table - there are 699 entries for countries as diverse as
Argentina, Aus, US , Germany, Greece etc etc etc

Phpmyadmin+OpenOffice.
I must be cause im sitting here entering in the provinces manually and its taking forever, Turkey alone has 81 provinces which is just 1 country. I don't have access to the database or the know how on how to create and run a script on the database.
Do you honestly need all these for every country?
Are you shipping to every country and calculating by States/Provinces?
Usually you need the states at maximum only for your own country. And most countries even do not use this states, for example in germany the states are most time just unpublished.
If you are angry that the turkish states are not entered, then ask the turkish vm community, why no one donated his work. Seems not to be important for them. I know that so good, because one turkish guy donated the "mass reference products to categories" feature. So he bought a lot more and donated it, but not the states.
The states are also very often misused as zips or quarters of a city for stuff like pizza service.
Its not me its the client they want to ship to every country, they requested that the State/Province/Region be mandatory on the shipping & billing to form. Would be a lot easier to change the drop down to a text area and let the buyer enter it in but i have no idea how that would happen.
I have tried talking the client out of it but they are adamant that it remain. I have so much other more important work on this project to do but am wasting time doing this.

unpublish States
Make a new shopper field States (or what ever)
you ever tried it? If there is not state published for the country, then you do not need to select a state for that country, so easy.
