See http://docs.joomla.org/Should_PHP_run_as_a_CGI_script_or_as_an_Apache_module%3F

FastCGI is what I use. More secure and no file ownership problems.

Hi Maxim, they do not offering a php 5.3-Use with dedicated-severs, donĀ“t know why. Is 5.3 insecure?

That's bad for them and for their clients. Php 5.3 is better for compatibility with Joomla 2.5/VM 2, for more speed and more security (then unsafe php 5.2).

5.3+ is recommended for Joomla 2.5 and 5.4 is OK for J2.5 and VM2.0.22 but some Joomla extensions are not yet 5.4 compatible.
