Title: Incorrect transition on category pages in the VM admin panel
Post by: ViPeS on October 13, 2023, 11:03:02 AM
Нere was a need to edit VM categories. When you go to any page number and save the edited category,
the transition is made to the first page, and does not remain on the editing page.
This is very annoying, since you have to go to the edited page again.

Before each update, it is worth reading the change log
http://dev.virtuemart.net/projects/virtuemart/activity

New versions generally do not bring anything significant. Therefore, it is worth checking whether it makes any sense for you before updating.
Each update is half a day wasted on re-fixing what was not fixed in the new version and additionally fixing what was broken in it - such an accumulation ;-)

Very, very wise words. Don't update anything unless there's severe security risks involved if you don't. I've been building e-commerce sites for 12 years and this strategy works for me.

uhmmm, that is not really correct.

The versions from 4.2.0 to 4.2.4 are pure bugfixing versions. They are very important. So from year to year we had always a kind of "gold" version. For example, if you ask me, use either the vm4.0.22 OR the vm4.2.4, the vm4.0.0 is not good as the vm4.0.22. Or if you want to use the vm3, then I think it the vm3.8.8 was the golden one.

Currently the vm4.2.4 is imho the best version ever and next vm4.2.6 will be even better. We just do bugfixes or code reorganisation for j4/j5 and a bit css.

If we would think in the old linux days. VM is now 1.0 ;-) . There was really a lot optimisations in the last years. For example the factor 10 enhanced loading of the category trees.
