VirtueMart 4.0.6 10690 and I do not see an official update release yet.
It is on http://dev.virtuemart.net/projects/virtuemart/files - full public release (with an announcement) should be very soon, but your reported bug has already been fixed.

So, you are using VirtueMart 4.0.2 10661 and saying it has already been fixed? The last stable version I am using is VirtueMart 4.0.6 and the bug(s) still exists.

You are saying that updating to VM4.0.8 10748 is safe?
Depends on what you mean by safe. It has bugs still, but they don't affect the functions I use. Of course, you should never update a site without first testing first. Development has already moved on to 10751 and is still progressing.
If your site is working OK apart from cat sorting then there should not be a rush to update.

Thanks. I will wait then for the official release.
It sorts by id, but it does not ignore the subcategories. So,.. if you created first 3 main categories id 1,2,3 and then you create 2 subcategories for category with id 1, you get:
1,4,5,2,3 or a bit graphical as tree
0
-1
--4
--5
-2
-3
I did not consider pure sorting per id, that would be even easier, actually.

yeh, but it would be extra work, extra lines. And then comes the next and wants it the old way.

No one said, "do it".
