Title: WordPress front-end with Joomla/VirtueMart eCommerce
Post by: ghc72 on June 28, 2019, 02:17:23 AM
I have a Joomla/VirtueMart website that I am trying to add a WordPress front-end to using Divi.  My best guess was to relocate the Joomla/VirtueMart site to the subdomain store.XYZ.com and make the main XYZ.com site as the WordPress Divi site.  However, I am having problems with the Shopping Cart not updating, adjusting or deleting products in the Shopping Cart and I wonder if that is because it is not at the main directory anymore.  I have read that the store used to need to be at the root directory; is that still true?  Is there a work-around to make this work?

Thanks for the help.
Best Regards, Greg

Apart from my personal opinion that adding a WP front-end to a Joomla website has no advantages at all and that Divi is a bad choice, because it will end up in a big mess of shortcodes if you ever decide to change to a different theme, I suppose that your configuration file is not adapted to the subdomain. A method to move a Joomla/VM installation to a subdomain would be for example:

1. create a complete backup (files and database) using Akeeba
2. create a folder for the test environment on the webspace
3. create a subdomain at the hoster and include the previously created folder e.g. store.yourURL. com
4. create a database
4. copy the created Akeeba backup to the previously created folder
5. download and unpack the Kickstarter from the Akeeba website
6. upload the unzipped files to the same folder
7. test.deineURL. de/kickstart.php and follow the instructions...

IMPORTANT... if a Google Analytics Code is integrated, delete/deactivate it!

You have many Joomla themes that can use a page builder so it's strange that you need WP only for this feature.

I have built a couple of sites like this .. I have WP in the root and J/VM in a subfolder ( not sub-domain) so the "shop" is  mainsite.com/store

all works fine .. e.g. WP is   https://www.moirabush.com/ ...   J/VM is https://www.moirabush.com/store/store  etc
