Title: No one page checkout
Post by: kuldaoo on May 27, 2016, 09:09:23 AM
Hi,
can anyone advice me with multi steps checkout? Is there any extension that can provide classic steps 1 - 5 to confirm the checkout?
I realy don't like One page checkout system and I disagree that every one moves to One page checkout.

I searched a lot and didn't find any extension. If I disable "one page checkout" in Virtuemart settings I get very confused checkout.

Thanks
Ladislav

Man after my own heart...   :D
Agree that OPC is "too much" for many non internet savvy users..  Amazon & Ebay both use step by step..

But I know of no extension to do this and build my own..  e.g.  https://www.4wdpartshop.com.au/

It is all over rides e.g. changing what is shown and when, adding the progress bar with links, changing where links "link to" -- so it is doable

The only core hack I use on this one is in the cart controller to redirect e.g. login straight to ship choice etc

Thank you for your answer. I'm not good at php scripting so I don't want to make it on my own.
The point is that I can buy many and many extensions for Open page checkout but there is no extension for classic multi steps checkout. I don't understand why, all current biggest stores in middle Europe don't use One paga checkout system.

A silly question but isn't VM default checkout pretty much like this?

There is a confusing option that says "Show checkout steps" but the tooltip doesn't seem related. And what if you disable One Page Checkout enabled in the Checkout settings?

I agree with you 2, the step checkouts were great, the one from VM1 was fantastic but as shopowner I must say that OPC's really increase sales, at least it did for us.

Amazon is amazon and people will buy even if the checkout had 15 steps :)

Yes agree with the Amazon example. I can disable "one page checkout" and enable "checkout steps" but the result is very confusing checkout that has very far from modern checkout :(

I've made a multi step checkout, only editing the template override files using javascript.
