Using Joomla! 3.4.8 and VM 3.0.2. Created a user menu item "Shop Outdoor Restaurant Seating" that is a VirtueMart/Front page Menu Item Type. It displays the product categories with pictures and the top of the section contains the "Lorem ipsum" paragraph. I cannot figure out how to change that text. I've read the forums about changing the .ini files but I cannot find that particular file in ProFiles, even using the Search feature for that value string. Any suggestions? Thanks!
vm3.0.2???? current is 3.0.12
did u use some sort of quickstart with content?
It could be the VM admin shop description etc
without a live site hard to say
You're correct, it's VM 3.0.12. I mistyped. Not sure what you mean by quickstart. The entire site was migrated from an earlier version of Joomla! and VM by someone else so I'm in the dark. I'm guessing that text is generated by VM from an .ini file somewhere.
unlikely.. more likely the store desc. most content is held in the vm lang tables
labels etc are in the ini's
Can anyone point me to the correct file to change this text? Most language files are .ini files. I've attached a screen shot if that helps and here is the link to the page: http://migratetest.restaurantfurniture123.com/shop-outdoor-restaurant-seating. Thanks!
I found it by selecting the text on the screen, right-clicking and choosing "Inspect." I was able to edit the text in the Inspection window. Thank you GJC for your help! I learned something new that I hope will help others. :)
Hehe! And did the text reappear when you refreshed the browser window?
You would be better off editing the shop description as advised. Go to Shop / Shop and look at the Vendor tab. Scroll down the page to the Description editor......
As you can tell, I'm new at this and was thrown in without any help. I realize now my "cure" was misguided. Where is "Shop / Shop"? Afraid I have to be led by the hand.
See pic
See attached for the screen I get. I also get this message: Your Virtuemart installation contains an error: No user as marked as vendor. Please fix this in your phpMyAdmin and set #__virtuemart_vmusers.user_is_vendor = 1 and #__virtuemart_vmusers.virtuemart_vendor_id = 1 to one of your administrator users. Please update all users to be associated with virtuemart_vendor_id 1.
Now, I'm trying to figure that out.
yes.. without a vendor you can't edit the shop
is this some sort of quickstart install etc?
Not sure what a quickstart install is. It was a migration from older versions of Joomla! and VM. I didn't do the migration.
I've set up a vendor but still don't have a Vendor tab, only a Shopper Information tab.
and are u logged in as that vendor? if this is a migration gone wrong it could well need some database fiddling to get it correct
