Title: problems with custom field
Post by: moot-online on December 18, 2015, 09:05:40 AM
hey i am building a new shop with vm 3.0.12
i created few products with child products (clothes with different sizes)
then i created custom field "size"
that works fine.

but if i go to a productdetails site of any product, the add to cart button is not directly shown....
i have to choose a variant first. -> then i can add it to cart (the add to cart area is shown)
is there any chance that the first option (size S for example) is directly choosen? (actually it shows my overrided text "size")
or any option that the add to cart area is permanent shown?

i will make two screenshots to show my problem ;)

and here is a link to a product: http://123456.moot-online.de/hoodies/cube-1-detail.html

sorry for my bad english, im from germany.
hope anybody has an idea :)

Is this a good idea?

I think the reason is to stop visitors just simply clicking the add to cart without considering what size they want..

You have used child variants. If you used string variants instead then the buy button would show.  See the page at http://demo.virtuemart.net/product-variants to see the differences.

Maybe try this plugin:  http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=127362.0

Just be aware that this plugin does not provide any stock control at variant level.

Many times these things are just about labelling.. a large clear label instructing the slowest member of the audience can often solve problems.

"Choose you size first!"  next to aor above the dropdown  for example
