Who told you that? Of course Joomla is compatible with most browsers, the exceptions may be the historic ones like IE8 and older where not everything on some Joomla templates may display properly due to JavaScript issues or inability to work with CSS3 styling. On that basis, Joomla 3 would be even less compatible!

Now, what is your question about VirtueMart?

all works fine on Chrome, Safari, Firefox and IE ...

can add to cart, go to cart, country and state dropdowns work, no JS errors

but you are using a 3rd party template and a 3rd party OPC .. so...  if u have got problems the makers of these are who you ask

have YOU done any checking?

some browsers there is no cart button visible, or i get a blank page either on homepage or when checking out. on others browsers i click the checkout button and nothing happens, everything may look good but the button is just not clickable on certain browsers. im really sorry if im not explaining very well...im new to this as had a designer build my website but she struggled and gave up on it and ignored our attempts to get a refund therefore im stuck with a website i know nothing about that wont work 100% and im left to look into the issues myself in the hope i can come up with a solution

nancynancyg please stop repeating yourself in every slightly related thread you can find.

The best way to get people to help you is to post a live URL and as GJC says, describe exactly what steps you are taking to recreate what happens. There could be several causes, but hunting down an issue without being able to see what is happening on the server, eg what scripts are being called, is close to impossible. And this is the weekend, too.

You don't have a valid SSL certificate installed on the server, so in VM Configuration/Shop you should deselect "Enable SSL for sensitive areas (recommended)".
