Title: No front end since upgrade to Joomla 3
Post by: Tikkiro on May 14, 2015, 17:01:42 PM
This is a test site upgraded to Joomla 3.4.1  a while back & I've only now got stuck in again to it to get it fully updated prior to converting to a live site.  This site was originally a copy of the current main J2.5 site and at the time Virtuemart was working perfectly on it, however, in preparation for upgrading to J3, I'd decided to uninstall VM on the test site as I'd had issues previously with others not properly upgrading if any 'major' components were left on during the process.

Anyway - after the upgrade, I then reinstalled VM starting at V3.0 and got up to 3.0.4 before checking all was working ok only to find that while the back end is fine (-ish!), there are problems with the front end.   Main problem with Admin is this error msg which I've long forgotten what it might relate to as I've a vague notion of coming across it before:

QuotevmError: loadVmTemplateStyle failed: Could not load default template style

And the main problem with the front end is being unable to view products using a Category view.  This is identical to how it's set up in the 2.5 but on the 3.4.1 the categories show but clicking on them shows a blank page output other than the description.

I#ve tried about 4 different templates to try & fix this but unsure where it's coming from to know how best to fix it but so far none have worked.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks.

the 1st thing to do while developing is turn off SEF!!!! How can u debug without seeing the urls properly?

Quotestarting at V3.0 and got up to 3.0.4

why are u doing this?  U can go from any 2.6.x to the latest VM 3 directly
