Title: Life expectancy of Joomla 2.5 sites running virtuemart?
Post by: cmendla on January 18, 2015, 20:08:50 PM

I was searching but couldn't find an answer.

When will Joomla 2.5 virtuemart users be forced to move to Joomla 3.x ?   As I see it, there are a couple of things that could force this move.

1. Hosting companies no longer allowing joomla 2.5 installations.
2. Virtuemart ending mainstream support for joomla 2.5 installations.

Is there any projected end of life for the VM versions that would apply here?

thanks

chris

Max, lead developer has mentioned a minimum of 2 years security support for VM2.6.x

Which also means security support for J2.5 may be provided if necessary, as that verion is the basis of the full J/VM installation package, VirtueMart2.6.14_Joomla_2.5.27-Stable-Full_Package.zip .

It is unlikely that any good hosts will prevent J2.5 installations, in the same way that you can still install J1.5 on just about any host.
