have a weird one ...
i have many Groups of products, and have found this error....if i publish more than 59 products, the products group fails. as long as i keep under 60 all is fine.
i get this error :

First, suggest you look at updating as you are using versions known to be insecure. Test the updates on a backup of the site. http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=118683.0
I don't know if that will fix your regex problem, though, as I have never encountered this before.
